Ernest Baggaley first conceived the idea of inventing a new porcelain body
because he was dissatisfied with the products available. He enjoyed the
refinement of bone china but was put off by its delicacy, whereas the more
durable pottery felt cumbersome and heavy. He wanted a product that gave
the light, luxurious feel of fine china but with a durability that meant it
could be used every day and after much experimenting and by pushing the
materials to the edge of their tolerance he achieved Branksome China as we
make it today. A body that is fine and light in weight but durable enough
for everyday use in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers.

The unique nature of our
porcelain body ensures that drinks stay hotter for longer in our generously
sized cups and pots, and our eye for design detail has produced pots with
spouts that don’t drip. Our cups, mugs and beakers are well balanced with
handles that are both easy and comfortable to hold, we have even been known
to make cups and mugs with two handles for people who find holding a cup
steady more difficult.
